Meet Maeve

I’ve spent my career helping people get involved in their communities and in the decisions that affect them.

Over the past several years, I’ve worked as an organizer on political and community campaigns across Canada, helping lead large-scale voter engagement and grassroots organizing efforts focused on young people and first-time voters.

As the National Field Director for a non-partisan organization focused on civic engagement, I helped build teams across the country to register, engage, and mobilize hundreds of thousands of young people around the issues that mattered most to them. That work included organizing volunteers, building local teams and supporting emerging staff leaders, running training programs, representing the organization in the media, and helping people better understand how political decisions are made and how they can have a real voice in the process.

More recently, I’ve been bringing that work home to Halton Hills: knocking on doors, talking with residents, and hearing directly what’s working, what isn’t, and what people want for the future of our community.

What I keep hearing is this: people love Halton Hills, but they’re worried.

They’re worried about whether their kids will be able to afford to stay here.
They’re worried about traffic and how fast the town is growing.
They’re worried that decisions are being made without them fully understanding or being part of the process.

At the same time, I hear a lot of pride in our community: in our local businesses, arts and sports organizations, and in the beautiful green spaces we have right at our fingertips.

I’m running because I believe we can hold both of those things at once.

We can grow and still feel like home.
We can plan for the future and take care of what we already have.
We can make decisions and make sure people feel informed and included along the way.

I don’t think local government needs to be complicated or distant.

I think it should be grounded, practical, and connected to real people’s lives.

That’s the kind of councillor I want to be, and I’m looking forward to meeting and listening to people across Ward 3 throughout this campaign.
